1 kg of flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
100 ml of oil
550 ml water
50g fresh yeast
Optional – rind of a lemon, vanilla sugar, powdered sugar for sprinkling, jam …


In larger bowl pour lukewarm liquid (water and oil), add the yeast, sugar and salt and mix well to dissolve yeast (can optionally add the grated lemon peel, vanilla sugar and a little rum flavor) and then with flour knead soft compact dough.


Bowl with kneaded dough cover with a kitchen towel and let stand until the dough increase his volume. When volume increases, knead the dough again and let dough stand for a little more time.

When the dough has increased again, put it on floured surface. Roll out the dough to 1 cm thick size and with floured glass make circular shapes.

So shaped donuts, cover with a cloth and leave to rise for another 30 minutes, and then remove the cloth to make a little crust on top of the dough. Then, donuts is ready for frying.

Best oil temperature for frying donuts is 160 degrees. Donuts have to swim in deep oil. Bake always the first side for 30 seconds to 1 minute (you can cover them with lid (to better raise)), afterwards, turn donuts and fry a little up until they reach the desired color on the other side.

Fried donuts remove to paper towels to drain excess fat. Sprinkle them with powdered sugar and you can add some jam.
