Stomach discomfort and bloating are common thing on vacation. According to Ayurveda, one of the most powerful means for such a situation is Caraway, a spice that cools and balances Agni, the digestive fire, helps us to be free of unpleasant gases and drives the absorption of minerals. In the warm months Caraway can help in the release of excess water in the body. Before using caraway seeds, chop it by yourself in a mortar to obtain a more intense flavor.
Ideas for consumption:
1. Create a popular Indian lassi drink in a blender, mix one cup of kefir, a cup of lukewarm water, ¼ teaspoon salt and a pinch of ground Caraway.
2. Taste of browned ground Caraway fits great with grilled chick peas, lentils and beans, especially in dense stews with the addition of green vegetables.
3. Enrich your spring dressings and summer salad! In ¼ cup of olive oil, add half a lime juice, two teaspoons of honey and a pinch of ground Caraway and salt.
4. When preparing the ice cream add a pinch of ground Caraway.
5. Add it to your favorite bread recipes.
Caraway contains essential oils, higher fatty acids and vitamin C. Stimulates appetite, facilitates digestion, bloating and helps with stomach cramps.
