Fenugreek – (methi) seeds for better digestion

The leaves and stems of Trigonella fenumgraecum is a favorite vegetables in India.. According to Ayurveda Fenugreek is excellent for soothing Kapha and Vata in smaller quantities. But, fenugreek increases Pitta dosha. He is warming spice and contributes bitter, pungent and sweet taste. In Ayurveda, fenugreek is used for better digestion and for treating stomach disorders. It is also good for the skin and hair. Fenugreek seeds are used as a whole and as a powder. As the powder forms part of a mixture of curry spice . Like most spices, it is best to fry it on the ghee or oil before adding in the various dishes. Fenugreek has a bitter taste and is used in small quantities and be careful not to burn it because it will become even more bitter. Fenugreek seeds are in good agreement with other spices such as Roman cumin (jeera), coriander, turmeric, fennel and dry ginger. It is an essential ingredient in many masala.
